Meeting Rack Requirements:

Employers must ensure that workplace storage racks are designed and constructed with sound engineering, capable of supporting items, and used within the specifications and instructions of the manufacturer or engineer.

Properly Installed Racking:

Employers must ensure that a qualified person (such as a Hi-Cube expert), has properly installed or uninstalled racks based on the instructions of the manufacturer or professional engineer.

Rack Inspections:

Employers must maintain regular inspections by qualified storage experts while also identifying and providing maintenance to identify wear, corrosion, damage, and missing or incompatible parts.

Labels on Racks:

Employers must ensure that label and instructions for loading, rated capacity, inspecting and more are easy visible.

Violations of health and safety of the new pallet rack regulations may incur administrative penalties and/or monetary fines.

During an inspection by WorkSafeBC officers, an employer may be asked whether the observed damage on the storage rack has been inspected by a qualified person. Subsection 4.43.1 (8) of current "OHSR".
